Subaru has already teased its new BRZ STI concept numerous times, but now comes the very first image of what the production car will look like. Set to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of the month, rumors have indicated the BRZ could produce as much as 300-hp from a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, although Subaru is sticking to its story of a naturally aspired 2.0-liter shared with the Toyota FT-86, making 197-hp.
Certain to have edgier styling than the Toyota, we’ll await further details from the STI Concept unveiling at the LA Auto Show.

The winner of the 2013 World Car of the Year prestigious award is the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf.
After winning the 2013 European Car of the Year just a few weeks ago, during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf, the MK7, has been recently named the 2013 World Car of the Year, during the 2013 New York Auto Show.
The Golf 7 has been voted new World Car of the Year by a team of 66 automotive journalists, who had the hard job of finding it from a list which used to include the Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ, Porsche Boxster / Cayman, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Audi A3, Range Rover, Mazda6, Mazda CX-5, Peugeot 208 and Volvo V40.
This is the second year in a row when a Volkswagen car is winning the World Car of the Year, after the award was received back in 2012 by the Volkswagen Up!. The World Performance Car award was handed over to the Porsche Cayman and Boxster, who have managed to beat the BMW M6, BMW M135i, Audi RS5, Aston Martin Vanquish, SLS63 AMG, SLS AMG Roadster, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, Renault Clio Sport and Toyota GT 86 / Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-s. The World Green Car of the Year was won by the Tesla Model S.
Say farewell to the Subaru Tribeca. According to MotorTrend’s Japanese correspondent, a source close to the automaker says that the Tribeca will end production at the end of this year.
When asked to make an on-the-record-comment about the Tribeca, a Subaru spokesman said “No, Tribeca is not dead, and will be on sale for the 2013 model year.” However, beyond the 2013 model year, the spokesman had no comment.
We’re guessing the new Subaru XV Crosstreck will end up taking the Tribeca’s place when all is said and done.
Power for the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek comes from a 2.0 liter Boxer engine making 148-hp. The engine is mated to Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, a 5-speed manual transmission – a second-generation Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (automatic transmission) is available as an option. Estimated fuel-economy comes in at 25/33 mpg (city/highway) and 28 mpg combined.
